Microsoft Monthview Control 6 0 Sp6 Excel 2013 Download

Mainstream Support for Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0 ended on March 31, 2005. However, we are releasing this non-security related package because it contains improvements that were ready for release just prior to the end of Mainstream Support. Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0 has transitioned to Extended Support which runs through March 31, 2008. I have a 64bit laptop installed 64 excel 2013. I was trying to use Microsoft monthview control and it is not shown on the additional controls. Then I download MSCOMCT.cab, extract, copy and paste to both c: windows sysWOW64 mscomct2.ocx and c: windows system32 mscomct2.ocx. After that I use regsvr32 to run both of them with administor seperately.

If you've attended one of our Excel VBA training courses you might remember using the Date and Time Picker control when building a user form.

An exciting shot of the Date and Time Picker in action. As its name suggests, it allows a user to pick a date and time value rather than having to type it in.

The Date and Time Picker is immensely useful when designing VBA user forms but, sadly, it isn't included with every version of Windows. I discovered this recently when moving to a new machine with a 64bit edition of Windows 7 installed. Fortunately, it is relatively simple to install the Date and Time Picker, as long as you don't mind getting your hands dirty with a couple of simple command line instructions.

Downloading the Files You'll Need

The Date and Time Picker is part of a library of tools with the catchy title of MSCOMCT2.OCX. To start with, you'll need to download this file from the Microsoft support site.

Click this link on the page to start downloading the file.

UPDATE: Sadly, Microsoft have since removed this file from their site. You can still download it from a variety of third-party sites which you can find with a brief bit of Googling.

When you've clicked the link to start downloading the file, choose to save it somewhere on your computer.

Click the Save as option so that you can choose where to save the file.

On the next dialog box choose a location on your computer and then click Save to download the file.

Extracting the Downloaded File

Once it's finished downloading you'll need to extract the file. Start by double-clicking on the file that you've downloaded.

Double-click the .cab file to see what it contains.

Once inside the .cab file you can choose to extract the .ocx file by right-clicking on it and choosing Extract...

Right-click the file called mscomct2.ocx and choose to extract it.

Choose which folder you want to extract the file to and click Extract.

Select an existing folder, or create a new one, and then click Extract.

Copying the File to the Correct Folder

In order to make use of the file you've downloaded you'll need to place it in the correct folder for the edition of Windows that you're using. Start by opening a Windows Explorer window and browsing to the Windows installation folder. On my machine this is C:Windows.

The next folder you need to browse to depends on which edition of Windows you're using. If you're using a 32bit edition you'll need the System32 folder. If you're using a 64bit edition, like I am, you'll need SysWOW64.

Once you've navigated to the correct folder, simply move or copy the MSCOMCT2.OCX file into it.

The file now sits in the correct folder.

Registering the File

Before you can make use of the file you'll need to register it. You can do this using the command line tool in Windows. Go to the Start menu and in the search box type cmd.

Type cmd into the search box at the bottom of the Start menu.

Still in the Start menu, right-click on the cmd.exe item which appears and choose to run it as an adminstrator.

Right-click on the icon and choose Run as administrator.

At the command prompt make sure that the directory shown is the same as the one you copied the file into earlier.

If I was running a 32bit edition of Windows 7 this would be pointing to the correct folder.

If you need to change the directory you can do so using a command similar to the one shown below. Of course, you'll need to use the directory relevant to your own Windows installation.

Press Enter at the end of the line to change the directory.

Once you've changed the directory you can write one final command to register the file on your machine.

For reference, the command is regsvr32 mscomct2.ocx

If everything works normally you should see a message similar to the one shown below:

Using the Date and Time Picker

You should now find that you can use the Date and Time Picker control in your VBA forms.

In the design view of a VBA form, right-click on the Toolbox and choose Additional Controls...

On the dialog box which appears, check the box next to the entry for the Microsoft Date and Time Picker Control 6.0.

You'll find that you have access to several other controls from the mscomct2.ocx library as well.

I am looking for a control to add to userForm to enable a user to pick the date. I found a good one at this address

from Siddharth Rout which is perfect but it generates invisible sheets which is not necessary for my application. I tried to stop creating sheets but I couldn't figure it out.

The tutorial shows how to insert a drop-down calendar in Excel (date picker) and link it to a specific cell. In the More Controls dialog window, find the Microsoft Date and Time Picker Control 6.0 (SP6), select it, and click OK. Download Microsoft Date and Time Picker control.

Can you please let me know how I can properly modify the Siddharth Rout code or point me to another application like that?

Thanks for your time

Okay, either of these two steps should work for you if you have Office 2013 (32-Bit) on Windows 7 (x64). Some of the steps may be different if you have a different combo of Windows 7 & Office 2013.

The 'Monthview' control will be your fully fleshed out 'DatePicker'. It comes equipped with its own properties and image. It works very well. Good luck.

Date And Time Picker Jquery

Just throw some light in to some issues related to this control.

Date picker is not a standard control that comes with office package. So developers encountered issues like missing date picker controls when application deployed in some other machiens/versions of office. In order to use it you have to activate the reference to the .dll, .ocx file that contains it.

In the event of a missing date picker, you have to replace MSCOMCT2.OCX file in System or System32 directory and register it properly. Try this link to do the proper replacement of the file.

In the VBA editor menu bar-> select tools-> references and then find the date picker reference and check it.

If you need the file, download MSCOMCT2.OCX from here.

Since few days I have tried to apply this ActiveX to my Excel 2013.I made small app for running reports in Excel and I need some way to pick start and end date.

Easiest way to do it was Date And Time Picker Control which is in %windir%syswow64mscomct2.ocx.It worked perfectly at Windows 7 64-bit + Excel 2010 32-bit.

When I moved my project to other PC with Windows 7 64-bit and Office 2013 32-bit it stopped working. Firstly there was class missing, so I registered Microsoft Windows Common Controls 2 6.0 (SP3) in syswow64 using regsvr32.exe command.

It did not help - it was keep saying 'cannot insert object'.Tried another versions of Common Controls (currently SP6), but problem is still there - I can`t put any control to my Excel worksheet.

I`m running out of ideas and tutorials, so maybe some of You had ran into this type of problem and have solution?

It's best that you just abandon your search for a Microsoft solution. They haven't updated the common controls for 64-bit. Your best options are to create your own ActiveX Control by wrapping the Date And Time Picker Control from .Net or communicate using COM and expose the features that you want, or use one of the custom VBA solutions that can be found on Ron de Bruin's Calendar/Date Picker page.

I've used this one - Calendar Control for All Office versions - including Office 2010 64 bit

but this one looks better IMO - A Pop-up Calendar for Excel 2007 and up

Even if you can get it running on your machine, if you work at a large company, like myself, you'll never get IT to deploy the fix to everyone.

Edit: was getting confused with MSCOMCTL.OCX issues
